I like to rise
from the table
sometimes,
unlike many others
nailed to their chairs
who only stare at their plates
focused on the array
of food and its arrangement.
I like to stretch my legs
to keep them fit
for long journeys.
I like to draw in
the fresh air
filled…

You snatch my cap
on a winter’s night,
stretch your leg
to trip me up,
pull my hair
when I look away.
You throw tomatoes
and watch them splash
all over me, then
you punch me on the nose
and stab me in the back.
You bark, you spit,
you roar…
